What is the Vickers hardness test?
Hardness test applicable to all materials, having one of the wide scales.
The "Vickers hardness test" was developed in 1924 by Smith and Sandland of Vickers as an alternative to the Brinell method for measuring the hardness of materials. Since the required calculations do not depend on the size of the indenter, it is often easier to use than other hardness tests and can be applied to all materials regardless of hardness.
